Litter picking walk

Interestingly, fast food wrappers including plastic, cardboard and paper are the most littered object in the environment around us. It is alarming that nearly all of this litter ends up in the ocean! But you can make a difference!

Go on a walk, ensuring you are following the COVID rules - maintain your social distance and stay local, to litter pick.

You will need an adult helper, thick gloves and a strong bin bag. You need to make sure you are wearing suitable footwear and brightly coloured clothes (for visibility near roads).

The things you need to avoid picking up are: broken glass, sharp objects, dog poo bags, anything dirty or dangerous, large or heavy rubbish and bottles of liquid. If you are not sure whether to pick something up, ask your adult.

Make sure you wash your hands properly after picking litter!

Could you try separating the litter into different bags for recycling?
