The year 1s focus text this half term is Cinderella. To explore this we had a lovely workshop run by the Northern Arts Factory. Year 1 were able to act out parts of Cinderella as well as learn different ball dancing.
To support our learning and understanding of counting in 5s, we noticed we have 5 fingers so could use all our hands to count in 5s.
Year 1 have been learning about Islam today and have made paper lantern decorations to celebrate Eid.
Our subject driver is history this half term where we look at Old and New Toys. Our first lesson introduced us to looking at some older toys. We discussed the materials the toys were made out of and tried to understand how some of these worked.
To celebrate King Charles III's coronation, Year 1 made their own crowns. Also, to support the King's interest in ecology we also made butterfly feeders using recycled bottle cap lids and sticks from our outdoor area.
