Aspire, Learn, Succeed
This week the children have learned 3 new digraphs (2 letters that make 1 sound) and the grapheme j. Please practise oral blending then reading the following words:
p-u-ff
h-u-ff
m-e-ss
h-i-ss
b-e-ll
f-u-ll
j-a-m
j-e-t
Now the children are getting more experienced and confident with blending to read words, we have started to read captions and sentences too. It would be great if you could write out some of the captions and help your child to read them. This week we have read:
a big cat
a red hut
a bell in a bed
a red sock
jam on a hen
We have also been orally segmenting to spell then write the following words:
cat
top
bed
ten
sock
Our new tricky word this week is:
as
The tricky bit is that the s makes a /z/ sound.
