Year 1 took their maths learning outside and completed their Place Value within 10 learning by using objects around us.

In our first week of Year 1 we have been exploring our classroom and completing our challenges in class.

Year 1 have been looking at Louise Bourgoise in Art and have focused on her models, we created our own from looking at snail patterns we used clay and clay cutters to create designs into our swirls.

In drama with Dazzle we have been following our key text Monkey Puzzle. Year 1 have used their bodies and faces to show the emotions of the monkey throughout the book, as well as different actions. In this lesson we became interviews and asked the monkey how he was feeling. Year 1 used their bodies and faces to answer these questions.

To support our science learning of Animals including humans we had a visit from Lion Learners who brought a range of animals for us to handle and also learn about. We discussed about their classifications and also what food these animals eat. We were very brave and had a great time!

Swillington Organic Farm Visit

To support our Science topic 'Animals including humans' we visited Swillington Farm, where we met lots of different farm animals. Farmer Jo helped us to know how we classify these animals and what they eat. We were very brave and got to feed them.

We also had the chance to explore the orchard and all the different fruit and vegetables that grow. We picked and tried different apples that grew in the orchard and then pressed some fresh apple juice which was delicious! This supported us in our understanding of fruits, vegetables and healthy eating.
