On behalf of Y6 Eagles Class, a huge welcome to our class page.

This page will be updated regularly so please keep looking for important information and to see pictures of our learning.

We recognise that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. If there are any problems or concerns please do not hesitate to come in and speak to us.

The Year 6 team who will be helping your child to shine is:  Miss Howlett, Mr Rickson and Mrs Nield.

The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry - January 2020

We are loving learning about this amazing book in English. We have listened, devised a story map, performed in class and discussed new vocabulary. Have you read the story of The Great Kapok Tree? In the Amazon Rainforest, a man is chopping down a great Kapok tree. Exhausted from his labor, he puts down his axe and rests. As he sleeps, the animals who live in the tree plead with him not to destroy their world. We enjoyed discussing current climate issues as a result of this story.

Homework

  1. Please support your child by reading at home with them every day for 10 to 20 minutes.
  2. Spellings will be sent home on a Monday, to learn for the weekly test on the following Friday.
  3. Talk Homework will be given out on a Thursday, because Big Writing will be done every Friday.
  4. Maths homework will be given on a Tuesday and Friday and will link to the work that we have been doing in class. Pupils also need to know their multiples tables really well.
  5. English homework will be given on a Wednesday and Friday. This will give the children a chance to practice the skills that they have been learning in class.
