Thank you for thinking of us....

Welcome to Cross Gates Primary School and thank you for taking time to visit our website.

Starting school is an exciting milestone and we understand choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. Unfortunately, during the current COVID 19 restrictions, we are unable to offer our usual school tours for Parents and Carers. However, please see below for a video of our Reception classroom and our Early Years Curriculum Offer document, which includes a wealth of information. We hope this gives you are ‘feel’ for our school and helps you to make an informed decision. If you would like any further information or if you have any questions, Miss Harrison our Assistant Headteacher for Early Years, will be more than happy to have a telephone conversation with you at a convenient time.

Applying for a place in a primary school for September 2021:

The Governing Body at Cross Gates Primary school intends to determine (set and approve) the following admissions policy as the school’s admission arrangements for entry into our school during the September 2021 to July 2022 academic year. This proposed policy mirrors the Leeds City Council Admission Policy. When we determine the policy, we may take into account any feedback the council receives on their policy as well as all the feedback we receive.  We welcome your views and encourage you to respond by the deadline of 18 January 2021 and you can respond by emailing us at

The Governing Body is the Admissions Authority for Cross Gates Primary School. We are responsible for determining the school’s admissions arrangements including this policy and deciding who can be offered a place in accordance with the policy.

For applications in the normal admissions round (entry into Reception in September), all applications will be processed in accordance with the co-ordinated admissions scheme.

Applications should be made to your home Local Authority for a place at our school.

The closing date for applications is 15 January 2021.  In April, your home Local Authority will send you the offer of a place at our school on behalf of the Governors.

Headteachers or school-based staff are not authorised to offer a child a place for Reception for September entry.

The Governing Body makes the offer of places in all other year groups and for entry to Reception outside the normal admissions round.
