Home Learning COVID-19

ALL HOME LEARNING GUIDANCE HAS NOW BEEN WITHDRAWN BY THE DfE - BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE OF OUR OFFER DURING THE COVID-19 PERIODS OF SCHOOL CLOSURE.

Children will be expected to attend an online zoom session with their class teacher- please see the link on ParentMail for your childs- this can be done on any web browser by clicking the link- you may also wish to download the free zoom app for easier access. The session opens at 9am where an attendance register will first be taken- the session will last half an hour. If you have two or more children at home, the session will be repeated at 9.30am until 10am. The class teacher will ‘check in’ on your child and explain the learning they are expected to complete that morning.

second session using the same link will start at 1pm and repeated again at 1.30pm if you have two or more children. I suggest your eldest child accesses the first meeting and your youngest accesses half an hour later with their teacher. If you have two internet-enabled devices in your family then they can both access the first sessions. Each class has a different zoom link but it will be the same link for both morning and afternoon and through this period of home learning.

If your child does not attend the zoom meeting, they will receive a telephone call from the class teacher after 10am to discuss next steps.

As per government guidelines, the learning will be through Remote Learning- the links will be accessed through our website page using a variety of providers (Oak National Academy, White Rose Maths, BBC etc…) https://www.crossgatesprimary.co.uk/home-learning-covid-19/ The government expects children to complete 3 hours worth of learning per day- your child’s class teacher has produced more work and activities if it is needed, these are available on the class page on the above link.

As the children will be on screen to others during the Zoom session, for safeguarding purposes, we ask they;

  • Are dressed appropriately for learning- they do not need to be in uniform but we do asked they are dressed out of nightwear.
  • Children should be in a communal area- not a bedroom.
  • It is expected they will comply with our positive behaviour policy- any breach of this and they will be closed from the session and further action taken.
  • Sessions must not be recorded by children or parents.
  •

Should you wish to communicate with your child’s class teacher and/or send any work electronically, or have any problems with the Zoom session link, you can do so by email.
