Spring 1

KO for Geography and Art and Newsletter

We started our half term with a very snowy first day! In English, we learnt a new poem called “opposites.” We had to practise it on small groups and then perform it! We all did so well.

What better way to learn about Winter as a season then to bring the season into the classroom? We learnt about Winter and then got to play with some real snow!

In our writing, we are going to write a lost poster to put up all around the South Pole so we can try to find the penguins family. We started off by labelling the penguin with lots of adjectives ready for our poster tomorrow.

We have loved doing our new topic of football with Mr Kay in our PE lessons. Look at us score!

We have started our Geography learning all about hot and cold places! We had a fun afternoon filled with a role play travel agents, drawing animals from hot countries and designing outfits for Brazil and the North Pole!

Look at all of the amazing things we have been doing in provision!

In our English lessons we learnt what a noun is. We then had a sort activity to complete where we sorted the nouns from the adjectives!

In our Geography lesson, we learnt about the equator. We found out about hot and cold countries in comparison to where the equator is. We then made our own equator using straws on atlas’s and had to write down hot and cold places.

Look at our amazing Clarice Cliff plates! We used primary colours to begin with, then once dry we drew trees on using straws!

In Maths, we have been looking at length and height. We learnt which way length is and which way height is. We then had to split in pairs, one person got one item and the other person got a different one. We then had to compare them to see whose was longer and which was shorter!

We had the best time on number day! We drew our own number blocks, read number stories, made double butterflies and gained more coins on numberbots!

In our writing we have been looking at writing a set of instructions for the perfect marmalade sandwich for Paddington! We had a go at writing them, then had to follow our own instructions to see if we did it correctly. We made perfect sandwiches! Yummy.

As part of our treat for being such superstars this half term, Miss Pask kindly baked lots of Valentines heart cookies and we got to decorate them! We had pink icing, love hearts, marshmallows and lots of sprinkles! We then watched Paddington and ate them.

We have been loving reading our new maths story books during silent reading time!

As part of our Valentine’s Day, in our English lesson we were given hearts with our names on them. We spoke about adjectives and then had to pass around our heart and our friends wrote different lovely adjectives on them to describe us! We then got to take our hearts home as a reminder that we’re loved and special.
