Important Information

PE

Our PE sessions are on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Please bring correct kit. Earrings need to be removed or taped during the session to follow local authority policy.

During Spring term our PE focus will be Dance and Invasion Games.  Mr Kay supports our PE sessions once a week.

PE gives us a fantastic opportunity to let our 7Rs shine and we discuss how we can do this before and after each session.

Risk-taker. Relationships. Resilience. Resourceful. Reflective. Responsible. Respect.

READING BOOKS

We ask that bookbags are brought to school each day to allow for staff to read with children throughout the week. Please comment in your child's reading record as and when you can and do let us know what else your children are reading at home! We enjoy sharing recommendations and getting to know the children better as readers. We have a 10 Book Challenge scheme in school which means a note is taken every time your child completes ten books (this can be a combination of school books and books from home) and they will awarded a certificate as part of our Gold Book assembly on a Thursday and also be entered into a raffle at the end of each half-term. Please do indicate that a book is complete so we can add it to your child's tally! Fostering a Reading for Pleasure culture in class is a wonderful part of our Year 3 experience!

SPELLINGS

Spellings are sent home with children on Fridays. We're following the No Nonsense Spelling scheme. Children will have a week to work on their spellings at home and will be supported in class throughout the week also before a quiz on Friday. Please don't hesitate to approach us for further information and support.

SNACK, MILK AND WATER BOTTLES

Please provide snack where possible. We have a milk ordering scheme if you would like your child to receive milk at breaktimes - please contact the office for more information. Clean and filled water bottles need to be provided each day and we shall refresh the bottles throughout the day as needed. Children are given ample opportunity to have a drink throughout the day and can ask to go to our water bottle station in class at any time.

Our Class Person is awarded every Friday in Celebration Assembly... which 7R have you shown this week?

Our class person is Jack!

Jack has tried his hardest and always has a smile for those who need it,

we're so proud of his efforts!

Our class person is Orianna!

Orianna has shown real maturity and is always ready to move on with her learning!

Our very first class person in Year Three is Herkus!

Herkus has impressed all of the team in Year Three with a

lovely attitude and super manners!

Things we've been learning about:

We began a local study about Cross Gates and were developing key skills and vocabulary ready to undertake a local walk to discover more for ourselves! Please refer to the Knowledge Organiser (KO) for further ideas about activities you could so to support your child's current learning.

If you happen to have any local history information or resources we could explore in class together about Cross Gates we would love to share them! Please let us know.

DRAMA

First thing on Wednesday mornings we have a Drama session with Twinkle! The children are thoroughly enjoying these sessions and it's been wonderful to see them take a risk and develop in confidence after just a few sessions! Twinkle is currently helping us to work on our listening skills and we are exploring how to project our voices with diction and good posture.

MUSIC

Wednesdays are very exciting in Year Three as we are also joined by Mr Rickson who is introducing the children to the recorder. Already the children are proving themselves to have a real ear for it and are very enthusiastic! As with all our learning we discuss how we can use our 7Rs to help us master this new skill.
