We had lots of fun on number day! We estimated how many cheerios would fit on our hands, then we stuck them on and saw whp had the closest guess.
We completed our final art pieces this week. We painted a plate in the style of Clarice Cliff. We painted the background in bright colours and then drew a tree on the front.
Carrying on with our Science topic, we investigated the properties of materials and thought about how different objects are made from the same material. We spoke about why some materials are better use for objects than others and described their properties.
In our English lessons we are learning to write a postcard from Antarctica. Today, we acted out the different activities we did there, ready to write in our final postcard next week! We made hot chocolate, snow angels, snowmen, had a dancing party with the penguins and built an igloo. It was a very busy lesson!
In our Science lesson we continued looking at materials and their properties. We thought about how we could sort materials and asked lots of important questions. We then went on a hunt around school and had to sort objects into their properties. We also were given properties and had to find things in our classroom that matched them!
We loved our reading for pleasure afternoon! We read to some teddies or our friends and at the end of the session, we reviewed the books we had read.
We are writing a postcard for the next few weeks in our English lessons. We looked at the features of a postcard today. We were given one to read and we had to then go through and use our phonics knowledge to find the digraphs.
As part of our Geography learning, we learnt about the Equator. We had to find it on a map and then we thought about what the weather is like in the countries close to the Equator. We then were shown pictures of hot and cold countries and we had to decide where they would be on a map!
We spent the first of our French lessons learning our numbers to five. We played a game of snap where if we landed on the same number, we had to say it in French!
We had our Geography hook afternoon, looking at hot and cold countries. This half term we will travel with Paddington, helping him find the best places to visit! We unpacked Paddingtons' suitcase and thought about where he would visit. We then drew hot and cold outfits and practised drawing animals from Kenya and Antartica!
We have started a new story in English called Lost and Found. Today, we learnt about time adverbials. We sequenced the story and added in our time adverbials. Then, we challenged ourselves to retell the story verbally!
