Autumn 2

We have been starting gymnastics in our PE lessons with Mr Kay, we loved doing all the different poses!

Our Science topic this half term is materials and in our first lesson we found out about different materials. We went on a material hunt around school and explored things like wood, metal, paper and fabric in the classroom.

In our writing lesson today we looked at weather poems! We discussed which we liked best, then had to remember it off by heart and perform it infront of our friends!

It’s raining....

Look at the messy fun we had in provision! We loved making our fingers grow stronger by cutting the silly spaghetti.

As part of Remembrance  day, we decorated and made our own poppies using tissue paper. We also had a minutes silence to remember.

We had so much fun when Sam’s Safari came to visit us! We saw snakes, an armadillo, a chinchilla, a duck and much more!

Christmas is underway in Year One! We have been strengthening our fingers by wrapping presents and building sugar cube snow igloos. We have also been writing letters to Satna and have completed lots of Christmas crafts. We have also had a little cheeky visitor...the naughty Elf!

We recapped everything we have learnt in our French lessons today by playing French bingo! We listened to the phrase, then had to click the English for what they were saying as quickly as we could before time ran out.

In our ICT lessons, we looked at pictograms and learnt how we can analyse data. We made our own visual pictogram of how we get to school. Next week, we will look at making one on purple mash.

We made a whole class pictogram all about what fruit we like best. We then had to roll a dice with a partner and record all the numbers we scored. We then put this information in our own pictograms!

In our Geography lessons we learnt about maps and how to read them. We were given a map of Cross gated and had to draw a route from one place to another, making sure we followed roads and didn’t just go over grass!

We have been looking at odd and even numbers in our mastery lessons. To further our learning, we were given big sheets of paper with odd or even written at the top. We then had to draw the numberblocks that were odd or even! They are now hanging up in our room so we can keep referring back to them.

After lots of work this half term, we finally made our cars! We worked in teams, picking which body, wheels and size axis we wanted. Once we made them we then adapted them so that they were the best they could be.
