Ian's Mobile Farm
We had such a fun time at Ian’s Mobile Farm! We saw a rabbit, a guinea pig, goats, donkeys, alpacas, sheep, ducks and hens.
We also met Meg the sheepdog. The children had the opportunity to stroke and brush the animals and play fetch with Meg.
Farmer Ian talked to the children about what his farm animals eat and how he looks after his animals. As the children were so enthused during this visit, we are going to continue to learn about farm animals.
Robots
This term, the children have shown a particular interest in robots. They have used carpet roll tubes from the construction area on their arms and legs to role-play being robots, as well as created robot drawings in the creative areas. We have followed this child-initiated interest by enhancing our provision to inspire imaginative play and encourage further exploration.
The children have particularly enjoyed using the loose metal parts to create their own robots!
Exploring Patterns!
In maths, the children have loved using different resources to build patterns. Exploring and building patterns is an important part of learning in the Early Years. Through making patterns with objects, movements, sounds and colours, children begin to notice similarities, differences and what comes next. This helps to develop early mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills and logical reasoning.
Movement Play
The children love to play in our indoor movement area. They were inspired to try the challenge that involved moving the pegs from one pot to another whilst balancing on the balance board! This required lots of concentration and core strength, but the children demonstrated lots of resilience.
Phonics
In Phonics, the children have been building CVC words using grapheme logs. This activity focusses on developing their segmenting skills. The children first say the word aloud, then break it down into individual phonemes before identifying and selecting the corresponding graphemes.
