My whole working life has been in Education. I trained as a teacher following my own schooling in Leeds and taught across the Primary age range before becoming an Advisory Teacher for Leeds then a Headteacher in North Leeds. After 16 years as a Headteacher I changed career slightly to become a teacher educator, working as a lecturer and tutor at Leeds Trinity University supporting students academically and in a pastoral role, as they completed their training. These roles have meant that I have always been passionate about education and had a desire to ensure that children have the best chances to learn supported by the best teachers possible. I see my role on the Governing Body at Cross Gates Primary School as an extension of this.

I have been a governor now for almost 4 years and part of my role is to work with Sophie Wilkinson and the team who support and include children, to make sure that there is good adaptation of teaching and learning to suit their diverse needs as individuals and learners.  This is an area of particular interest and one which I have taught to students over my time in initial teacher training.

When not working, I love outdoor activities. I walk miles each week, sometimes with one of my son's dogs.  My family are my biggest happiness and I really enjoy all time spent with them.  I also love to travel and I am often researching and planning a trip somewhere interesting. I also like to read, visit the theatre or cinema and to have lunches with family and friends.
