🌦️ Year 4 have been little weather watchers this week! We have been observing the weather each day, looking at the clouds, checking for rain and recording the temperature and wind. We compared our findings to see how the weather changed throughout the week. We’ve had lots of fun getting outdoors, developing our fieldwork skills and discovering just how much the weather can change! ☁️🌧️🌤️

Year 4 have really enjoyed learning to play the chime bars and developing their musical skills. We have been practising playing together and creating different tunes. Soon, we will be moving on to some festive fun as we begin learning our Christmas music! 🎄🔔

🌟 National Poetry Day was a huge success at Cross Gates! 🌟

Children across school enjoyed a range of exciting poetry activities and live Zoom sessions, all inspired by this year’s theme of ‘Wonder’. ✨📚 It was fantastic to see our children using their curiosity, creativity and imagination to explore, perform and celebrate poetry together. 📝💭 A wonderful day of words, ideas and plenty of wonder! 🌈✨

📚✨ Year 4 absolutely love their Reading for Pleasure time! It’s wonderful to see the children so excited to choose their own books, get comfy and simply enjoy reading. 💛📖 Building a lifelong love of reading, one book at a time! 🌟

We have been learning about covenants and the special promise God made with Abraham. We brought our learning to life through a hot-seating activity, taking on the role of Abraham and answering questions about his experiences, choices and faith. The children came up with some fantastic questions!

⚡We have continued our exciting work on electricity this week! Today, we built complete circuits and became circuit detectives, working out why some circuits were incomplete and figuring out how to fix them.

Year 4 are back with a bang! We have started the year by immersing ourselves in our new Science topic, Electricity, and have already begun exploring where electricity comes from.

We have also kicked off our new PE topic, Tag Rugby, where the children have been developing their passing, teamwork and communication skills. It’s been a fantastic start to the year!
